Katy Richmond Area Chapter History
Katy-Richmond Area (TX) Chapter HistoryMoving Full STEAM Ahead Since 2015
Our History
The initial steps of establishing a chapter of The Links, Incorporated in the Katy–Richmond Area began in 2015 with two visionaries: LaDonna Harrell Harris and Chantay DeBlanc. The two ladies met to discuss the idea of forming a service group of interested women, which became the Katy-Richmond Area Ladies of Service League. The two ladies visualized a group of diverse African American women with a broad range of skills and interests and extensive histories of individual civic responsibility, participation, and leadership. These women have excelled in their professions, and are prepared to respond to the needs of the community while fostering the bonds of friendship. Over a two year period, the level of interest grew to a total of thirty-eight professional women who would work diligently and tirelessly to make an even bigger impact together in the community. On August 10, 2017, the group received official notice that they were approved for Interest Group Status with The Links, Incorporated.
Through the tremendous efforts of this interest group, the thirty-eight ladies became charter members on April 14, 2018, making them the 286th chapter of The Links, Incorporated.
The Katy-Richmond Area (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will be moving Full STEAM Ahead with their signature service program designed to provide STEAM experiences to students, increase awareness of STEAM related careers, and award Katy– Richmond area high school students with scholarships.
